.75 watts 14 / 8 , EMLA Topical for 5 minutes, no local ..Patient didnt feel a thing .. 10 day post op should follow this week….

What was going on up in the vestibule where it’s a little dark? Some bleeding I would guess where it’s more vascular.
How did you get it to stop?

whitertthSpectatorI think its just a shadow to tell u the truth since i didnt get that much bleeding…for the Kodak moment i placed three small epi pellets on the area for 2 minutes and thats what i got…not too bad considering it was an erbium,,,the incredible thing is that this girls was referred by the orthodontist because she wouldnt let anyone inject her…. I wasnt so sure i would get this done without anaesthesia but she didnt feel a thing….. regards

Now having said that I would like to know if you checked to see if Blanching occurred on the palatal when you pulled the lip (did the fibers run through) and most likely they did.
If so , I would cut a wedge or slot on the palatal to release the fibers attachment there…. Otherwise they still migh cause a problem.

Actually you canucks are the guys who can get EMLA. You can’t get it in the states anymore, rumor has it that the company didn’t want to put child proof caps on it, like the FDA wanted so they can’t sell in US.
We just tried ordering some thru canadadrug.com- doc can’t write script for himself (already tried that)-canadadrug won’t fill it. We just sent one off today, written for my assisitant. Will let all know if they fill it.

His name was given to me by another dentist…The pharmacy is called Golden Springs Pharmacy in Anniston Alabama…He even adds a mint flavor so it is somewhat palatable… U can get the number from 411….call him and u wil have it in 2 days….

Don ColuzziSpectatorHello: A couple of questions. Is this an Erbium family laser?–I think that from your parameters. it might be an Er, Cr:YSGG. I can’t quite tell from the photo, but did you not continue interproximally onto the lingual? If you did, how long did you apply the EMLA? If you didn’t, are you concerned about the remaining fibers, since the pre-op papilla looks like there are fibers there? Thanks for the post and any answers you can give. Keep smiling and lasing.
whitertthSpectatorI applied the emla for 10 minutes….I went slightly to the lingual ans tols the parents i may have to touch it up on follow up…I dont often worry too much about the remaining fibers but it is a very valid point…The laser used was the waterlase….. Thanks for the questions
