Glenn van AsSpectatorAhah……..got you to look.
Contrary to what has been said in the past the Delight can be used to do frenectomies with sometimes minimal bleeding. This was one case that was that way.Patient wants to see if this will help with sons smile and in addition is looking into financing for ortho but doubts that it will be possible.
I would prefer to do it later but parents wanted it now.
Minimal anesthetic……1/5th of a carpule.
Quick and cool to see the tissue peel back with the fibers exposed.
One cool thing I noticed in this case was that when I blew a gentle stream of air on the frenum after cutting most of it, I could see where it was still attached ( viewing it with high mag) and I removed these fibers. They moved slightly with the gentle air stream. It was weird.
Anyways will post the healing next week. I videotaped it and will edit it for the web.
Perhaps will put it on Ron Schalters web site in time.

SwpmnSpectatorGood case, Glenn.
You did a great job and provided an excellent service to the patient.

Glenn van AsSpectatorThanks Allen………Please keep in mind , my only hope is not a holier than thou mentality but just to show what lasers can do, stimulate some discussion , improve my presentation skills for lecturing, get some feedback so I know what the audience will ask when I do show the cases and to help some people perhaps in using their lasers.
thanks for the kind words.

Glenn van AsSpectatorHealing photos at 6 days.
I have mixed feelings about this case.
On the good side the labial frenum cut looks awesome and the patient had little to no pain ( advil 2X on first day).
On the negative side the healing of the papilla interproximally is not as good as it could be , and is partially due to food entrapment from the patient as they have been leery to brush.
All in all though not a bad result for 6 days.
Will see the patient in a month and post the post op shots then.
Check it out here….

Glenn–Give yourself a break. This is an excellent result for day 6 and no sutures.
That interproximal tissue will regenerate–be patient and give it time!
Great work, great post!

Glenn van AsSpectatorThanks Bob but I was a little surprised to see the erythema and the plaque there. its not an easy spot for an 8 year old to take care off.
I think it is healing great on the labial but feel it could have been better on the interproximal.
I post the good and the bad……….
Its still better than the electrosurge in my opinion but that is a whole other story.
Thanks Bob
