Elton YeungSpectatorWe are considering buying a Cerac 3D machine in our office. Justed wanted to get some feedback regarding the Cerac & the use of a Er/Yag laser in compliment with this. Thanks.
mickey franklSpectatorHi Elton
I have cerec 3(the 3D update will be installed soon ) for 2 years and have had the waterlase for 2 weeks,
I have not yet integrated them together, but patients are very impresed by all this high tech.
I am looking forward to lasing a cerec prep.
Good luck

Elton YeungSpectatorMickey,
thanks for the reply, what is your experience with the cerac? do you find that the inlays/crowns fit well?
also, how long does it take from the time you scan the prep till the time it is actually milled?
sampat13421SpectatorI am a Cerec user for 3 &1/2 years, an Erbium laser user for about two weeks. The new 3D software gives awesome marginal fits for inlays. The software always gave great margins for crowns. Look into http://www.cerec.net and their mailing list if you want to hear from rabid Cerec users. http://www.dentaltown.com also has many postings about Cerec in their Forum.
As to length of time, it takes me about 3 minutes to design, 8 to 15 minutes to mill depending on the size of the restoration

Elton YeungSpectatorSam,
this sounds amazing, do you find that patients experience sensitivity after the inlays are cemented?
sampat13421SpectatorIf bonding technique is good, and occlusion is correct, then sensitivity is essentially a non-issue. Overall success rate and patient satisfaction is quite high. The patients love the fact that they don’t have to come back for a second visit.
I have not sent any single unit restorations to the lab in almost a year: I do stain and glaze the anterior crowns.
If I can think of any negatives, then it would be the learning curve, although with the new software it is much, much less.

marc andre gagnonSpectatorI AM A CEREC USER SINCE 4 YEARS AND A LASER USER SINCE 2 YEARS .YOU CAN USE ERBIUM FOR ETCHING THE TOOTH AFTER THE PREPARATION OF THE TOOTH FOR DESENSIBILISATION BEFORE CEMENTATION. THE MOST IMPORTANT LASER FOR ME IS THE DIODE 980 FOR THROUGHING BEFORE TO TAKE IMPRESSION WITH CEREC
