I have a prospective research project student who is looking to conduct a paper on the efficacy of removing broken files utilising an Nd:YAG laser.

I am unsure as to whether this can be achieved….has any one got any experience in this type of scenario??

There was a vendor at the Tucson meeting earlier this year that had an NdYag lab laser.  They demonstrated fusing two pieces of metal together with a tiny weld.  It was pretty impressive.
He claimed that if you place a file down the canal and touched the broken file tip, then hit it with the NdYag, they would fuse together and you could pull it all out as one piece. Very interesting prospect for those of us doing endo.
I don’t break files every day, but it would sure be nice to have such an easy way to get them out on those rare occasions that I do.
