It was back in late 2003 that we (Glenn, Ron and I) had a discussion about water spray rates for the different brands. I recall at the time that flow rates for the Delight was around 10 ml/min and 20 ml/min for the Waterlase. For the Waterlase, water rates changes some with air pressure. Both approaches seem to work fine for the respective machines. Since the water delivery approach between the canula (Delight) and nozzle (Waterlase) is so different, why is everyone wanting to copy the ~20ml/min rate of the Waterlase? In fact Glenn made a comment, based on some published research, that he thought something lower than 10 ml/min may be optimal. Was there some research done between late-2003 and recently that shows better results at 20 ml/min for the Delight? How about the MD, what’s the rate for that since the nozzle design has supposedly been improved.
