    Hi Fellow Forum Folks,

Here is a case of a crown on tooth #3 that I did on Monday. After the use of high speed, the erbium laser was used to clean the cavity floor and the 980nm diode laser at 1W CW noncontact was used to treat a carious pulp exposure. Patient was advised of possible endo as needed.

    Nice job, Andrew.
It amazes me when I see the beautiful work you guys do under a scope. It’s even harder to believe that other forums are debating whether you need magnification or not. Instead of the old ‘you don’t know what you don’t know’ it should be ‘you can’t see what you can’t see’!

Ron : You are correct in that you dont know what you dont know……

You cant treat what you cant see

You cant see what you cant see……..

IT goes on and on and in all honesty lasers need magnification PERIOD.

Its tough to see those small tips and fibers without and with smaller fibers you can be gentler in your treatment.

In closing, I have found that some people are VERY fearful of change and hold onto certain opinions when others go out and show that these opinions are not current…….

The mind is like a parachute , it only functions when its open.

    Very nice case Andrew.

Regarding the pulp capc: we have been doing laser pulp caps for 15 years with very high success rate. thanks to the work of Richard Hansen over the last 6-8 years we have modified our restorative protocol some and i will share it with the group for those who have not attended my course.

After stopping the bleeding with the laser or by chemical means we mix a paste made up of 500mg cpsule of tetracycline, 500 mg capsule of Flagyl and mix the powder into a paste by combining it with opthalmic eyedrops from Schein containg deximethedrone, neosporin and polymixin. Place the paste over the exposure, allow to dry and top it with Fuji IX, fujibond, flowable composite and then microhybrid composite ( Co-Cure technique ) . I’ve done over 100 of these with only one failure so far and Richard has done hundreds of them

    Hi Ron, Glenn, & Stu,

    Thanks for the kind remarks.

Stu, interesting concotion for the pulp cap. Do you need to mix it up fresh for each batch or can you store it in an air tight container?

    Stu,
When you say allow the antibiotic paste to dry, do you mean that it actually sets hard or does it stiffen up. How long does it take to dry?

I put some of the flagyl powder in a little vial and did the same with the tetracycline so I have it ready and then i just scoop out a littlew of each and mix it with the eyedrops.

You just need a thin layer of the paste. It hardens pretty firm in a few minutes but frankly I don’t wait. I just put the Fuji IX over ot as soon as I can get it mixed.
