Hi folks: Here is what I was talking about for Mark Colonnas technique of opening up occlusals. I measured this with the diagnodent and it was 30 on there so I knew it wasnt huge.
Note the angulation towards the buccal to remove the facial cusp enamel. Then angulation is towards the lingual cusp and finally we drop into the groove.
Its a 400 micron tip at around 30 Hz and 160 mj with no rubber dam but the Isolite was used for this case for isolation.
It was around 2 mm deep and etched and flowable A2, but looking back maybe an opaque shade would have been better for this patient. Its almost a fissure sealant but the decay was a little deeper.
Its Marks Technique but note how easy it is to see this under the scope and how the unique handpiece doesnt block your view. I will show the same with the handpiece next week under the scope. With loupes we move our head to see around the handpiece………not so easy to do with the scope. You can move your mirror , or patients head a little.
Hope it is of interest.
