    Glenn,

I little while ago you posted info about how you got a new camera set up for your scope, however, it was most likely lost during the server crash issues. Would you remind repeating that information? And, could you briefly compare/contrast your old set up with your new one, and the main differences?

Would anyone else like to comment on their current microscope set-ups as well? Pros vs. cons?

    thanks,

    aaroN

Hi there Arrowsmith: Sorry for the delay responding, as I am trying to get ready for a big trip to Nash Institute and Costa Rica next week and am swamped.

My new camera set up has the following:

Nikon D70 Digital SLR body mounted without a lens to the Global microscope via a prototype adapter Global is working on called the XMOUNT SLR.

THere is a ring flash on the microscope that I put on 1/4 mode except for in some instances 16 X mag and in 24 X mag where full flash is needed.

There is a Xenon lamp and a dual iris diaphragm to control the aperture of the system.

My old setup was a point and shoot Nikon 5000 hooked up to the scope and didnt really get the detail and sharpness of the images.

Here are some pics to show the different setups and quality of photos.

Current microscope companies to look at include Global, Zeiss and Seiler in the USA. Other manufactures exist in Europe including Moller and also Kaps.

Of the 3 biggies in the North American market, they all have proponents and I advise you to try them all out. I went a long time ago with Global because the rep then and still now my rep, lives in Vancouver and I get GREAT service for my scope. This is true of Global in many but of course not all areas.

Zeiss and Seiler both make very good scopes. There are differences in there design but all are made for dentistry and can be used effectively.

I hope my pics give you some idea of the different setups I have had in the past, and now.

    All the best,

    Glenn
