I have been invited by Seiler Microscopes to work their Microscope Booth at the upcoming Chicago Mid-Winter Meeting. If any of LDF Dentists want to either purchase a scope or to investigate just how much a scope can help you with a laser, stop by and talk to me. Take a look through a scope and see for yourself.

Very cool! In fact if I had it to do all over again I might do a scope before a laser- just so much easier to explain things to patients when you can quickly snap pictures before and after a procedure.

I need all the help I can get:)  Thanks for the nice words.

Done! Just need to practice the Powerpoint after LV presentation.

Its an honor to have you as a mentor and I can’t thank you enough for all of your encouragement and advice. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share that with others.

Ron,

I am in Florida and I just viewed your photos. Very nice. It’s clever how you mounted the rear monitor so it is easy for the patient to view it while in the supine position. The monitor on the mantle of your fireplace looks nice as it appears in easy sight of your assistant.

Dont forget to have the camera oriented so that the North-South Orientation is correct for the patient and assistant. If it is adjusted to show exactly what you are seeing, it will be upside-down for the patient.

I’d love to see posted here some reactions of your patients and what they say as they view in real time the work that you are doing or propose doing.

Great Pictures and congrats. By the way, thank you for the endoresement. I appreciate it. I apptrciate that you purchased the scope through me and had me train you. As I promised, it worked out fine.

Hi Ron,

Very nice set up. Good for you.

Do you have another monitor at the foot of the chair for yourself to assess the focus, framing and orientation of the subject before capturing the photo? That may be helpful for you if you want to check prior to taking the photo without a twisting motion on your part.

Another possibility is to mount the monitor for your assistant at a lower height near 10 o’clock to you; that way, you, the assistant, and the patient(when in a somewhat upright position) can view the monitor. Save yourself a monitor and any back twisting motion. Great as a digital radiograph and consult screen with the patient upright…..

Nice stone wall to your operatory. Very earthy and rustic.

Ron,
That’s a really nice set up. I love the rock wall!

What camera set up do you have and how do you have it connected in? Do you have a live video feed and a still camera, or are you doing it with one camera? Is it run through your computer or fed into the monitor directly?

I’m still in the process of setting up my video feed for patients and assistant to view, so would like any info you can supply.
Thanks

What camera set up do you have and how do you have it connected in? G-5

Do you have a live video feed and a still camera, or are you doing it with one camera? Both, We usually have overhead with G5 feed and the monitor on the stone fireplace with the live video(for the assistant-I’m left handed), although they can both receive either.

Is it run through your computer or fed into the monitor directly? Direct. If we want to import something to Schick, we pull the memory card and put it in a card reader on the computer. We had a foot monitor but found we could accomplish the same thing with the overhead and have less things getting accidently pushed into the delivery tray or scope.

I’m still in the process of setting up my video feed for patients and assistant to view, so would like any info you can supply.
Thanks

Thanks Ron,
Can you tell me the make of your video camera and where you purchased it?

Thanks

“Purchase a Revelation or SSI-202/402 dental surgery microscope, beam splitter and video adapter and receive a free CCD High Resolution color camera with composite and S-Video output, Model number SI300002”

I’m sure Stefan can give you more info.

The video camera Ron uses is a single chip, high resolution camera that puts out both an S-video signal AND a composit signal. It can be attached to a “C-mount camera adapter that is attached to the beamsplitter,
If you have a microscope, I can sell you the video camera and all the attachments for any scope that you have. ALso I can attach almost any digital still camera to any scope.

If you need a scope also, then I can provide you one that suits your needs and provide you the training necessary to use a scope effectively.
If you are interested, just call or email me.

Thanks Ron,
That’s the expensive way. I already own a Zeiss scope. The Sieler is a very nice scope though and the camera coming with it makes a great deal.

Hi Stefan,
Glad to have all your input on this thread. It is nice to be getting your input- I enjoyed talking to you at the last 2 AMED meetings. I am interested in what video cameras you can get-preferably USB- for a C-mount. I have the beam spitter and mount but don’t like the size of the Sony camera I am currently using and want to look into 1 and 3 chip dedicated cameras. You can contact me at brucenelson@brucenelsondds.com.
Thanks
