I was just reading Dentistry Today (pg 32) and noted what appears to be a new HOYA laser. It reads….
Hoya conbio intorduces the multi-purpose VersaWave hard and soft tissue laser with an optimum range of 3 to 50 pulses per second and laser output boosted to 9W…………TruTest calibration port……….
I am sure that there must be someone in this forum who has already taken this for a test drive. I was just about to buy the DeLight but maybe the VersaWave is the answer or equivalent to the biolase MD.
I spoke to a woman at hoya but she was unable to confirm or deny this new laser. Perhaps it is making its debut at the Chicago meeting.
Should I wait to buy this one as opposed to the DeLight?

I have not test driven the laser. It does exist as mentioned and will debut at the Chicago Midwinter and I do know that there will be some tremendous educational training tied to it.

Other than that I know a little more but not more than what is posted here, but it will have a different appearance than the old unit!!

It wont take me long to figure it out, if you want I will be able to…….

I havent got one, probably will have played with it by then, but perhaps best to ask Tom Haney when they will be actually available.

I’ve heard there will be an upgrade that can be placed on the old unit so it will function like the new unit. Any one here of this and know the cost of it?

I spoke to my Hoya rep and he said that they will have the new lasers at the Chicago meeting. There will be upgrades available to all existing DeLights. He wasn’t sure but thought the “Versawave” would be about &#3610,000 more than the DeLight but the upgrade about &#366000. I guess we will all know for sure at the show in 2 weeks.

For anyone who can’t make Chicago ( or would much rather be in Vancouver) and wants a close up and personal with the VersaWave, we should have one at the Laser Convergence on April 29th.
