In thinking about it, in watching Dr. Jorgen Slot’s set-up at his microbiology lab at USC, anaerobic cultures are grown in controlled humid incubators, and the light is low or off.
The intensity of pulse Nd:YAG 1064, we know from lots of studies KILLS them dead (Horton, Liu, Cobb, Witters, Mellnonig, Harris).
Could other bandwidths of intense light that is allowed to scatter also have a bacteriacidal effects? Maybe.
What Dr. Stambaugh and I were talking at the time, as I recall now, had more to do with biostimulation, as White Light has a bunch of wavelengths that are known to be involved in biostim–like Red at 600-700nm.
We’ve got lots to learn still.
