Could Periolase users give us a guide to how long you guys spend doing LPT per quadrant, and what is the charge for this.
Do most of you treat a quadrant at a time or half a mouth each session?
Also what do you charge for minor perio treatment with the Periolase .
    Thanks

Could someone reply to this original post? I have the same question.

    Hi Guys

I do upper and lower quads on one side at a time and the other half of the mouth one week later. I adjust my fees depending on the number and severity of the pockets and the amount of calculus that needs to be removed with SRP. I charge &#36550-998 per quad depending on these variables. Most appointments are 1.5 to 2 hours in length. Most periodontists in Phoenix that I have checked with are charging 1300-1800 per quad for osseous surgury, and the responses I have been getting are superb. I have started organizing the results since I have been using the Periolase for a year now. Priliminary numbers show consistent resolution of pockets. Several cases had 16-24 pockets greater than 5mm and now there are 0-2 4mm pockets, the rest 1-3mm. Several of these people had 8-10 mm pockets also. Patients that have had 1-2 previous flap procedures and needed it again have come in saying they never had something so comfortable, when they were contemplating pulling all their teeth for dentures rather than have osseous surgery again. I suppose that with the additional cost and exclusivity of the Periolase that I should charge more but it has paid for itself faster than anything else I have ever purchased.
    Hope this helps.

    Mickey-

I use 600mg ibuprofen tid for the week after tx. and antibiotics as necessary. Most people stop the ibu in one day if not specifically instructed to continue, as there is seldom any discomfort.

Bruce – Would you happen to know the procedural codes you’re using for this? We are getting our Periolase in 3 weeks and I’m trying to work up Tx plans for patients where we’ll be doing LPT.

    Thanks for your help.

Give me a call Kelly, and I can walk you through the main options. It will all be covered in BootCamp, but if you are Tx planning now, then we should talk.

Understanding billing requires a full understanding of exactly what we do in the pocket and to the occlusion and splinting of teeth that in turn determines billing codes.
