    Congratulations!!

Looks pretty good. No apparent PA lesion, canal looks about the same as the other central. Would we expect to see any reparative dentin between the composite and the pulp at 6 months PO? Does the tooth appear the same visually?

    Glen,

My experience with pulp capping is pretty much identical to yours. They come back in a couple of months for endo. But they aren’t angry, so far, anyway.

Thanks Cerecdoc……..I may not be having the success others are having. I have read some statistics recently that said with CaOH that the success was down to 48% or so after 54 months whereas the NdYag and Vitremer was in fact 90% after the same period of time.

I dont get anywhere near that success………..

I agree with you , if it is a carious exposure I end up doing endo…….the patient gets a chance but rarely does it succeed in my hands and it is never predictable.

    Hi to all,
Had one of these today as well. Frank Yung has done over 100 of these vital pulp caps with the laser…diode 980nm I believe. He does large pulpotomies with them as well and uses dycal to cover. Reports 80% success long term. I tried this today, pictures still in the camera but will post with notes. I think using MTA would be a better “cap” as it sets even with moisture and allows tissue growth. My case was a near carious exposure, but vital pulp with constant pain. I prepared her for the endo, but we thought we might try this instead. I will keep you posted.
