Dino, there are 2 ways to include images in your post.

    1. if the images are on another server,e.g. dt, or your own website or some other public server.

I'm guessing this is what you did above because if you right click the boxes with the red x's you get –

    file:///c:/documents%20and%20settings/donato%20napoletano/desktop/aa/img_0435%20ipo%20lt.jpg
which means it is pointing to images on your hard drive.

The second way to include an image in your post is by adding it as an attachment by browsing for it on your computer 1. and then clicking on add reply-

    Hi ron,
once the image file is located and listed via the browse section, how do you upload it?
i don't see an “attach or upload image” button anywhere. and even when the file is listed in the browse section, it doesn't appear in the post when i preview it. thanks for your help.

Townes is still alive. Schawlow died in 1999. Maiman just passed away earlier this year.

Wikipedia has some pretty good information on each individual involved.

It is an interesting story to say the least.

So what has changed since '05?

Why should I join the ALD? What benefits are there for me?

I am proficient with erbiums, diodes and Nd:YAG. I know how the lasers work and what they can and can't and shouldn't be used to do.

What is in it for me and my patients?

    Sell me on membership.

    Dear Mr. Mir,

When you make the statement, “…but yes LANAP procedures can be carried out no problem…”  I have to ask you, a practicing clinician of LANAP for 17 years, how you can justify and defend that claim from a scientific standpoint?

LANAP stands for “Laser assisted new attachment procedure”.  LANAP is a very specific and defined periodontal treatment protocol that was cleared by the FDA only after demonstrating to the FDA scientists and periodontist that the human histology completed by Professor Ray Yukna demonstrated “cementum-mediated new attachement”.

In fact, the specific FDA clearance reads, “Laser assisted new attachment procedure (cementum-mediated new periodontal ligament attachment to the root surface in the absence of long junctional epithelium.”

So in order for me and others who practice LANAP to fully understand your statment, are you claiming that the FRP Nd:YAG manufactured by Fotona and distributed in the USA by Lares Research can indeed result in cementum-mediated new attachment?
HELLO BOB.  I HAVE TO ASK THE QUESTION, RESPECTFULLY, ARE YOU CLAIMING THAT THE FRP ND:YAG MANUFACTURED BY FOTOA AND DISTRIBUTED IN THE USA BY LARES RESEARCH CANNOT, INDEED, RESULT IN CEMENTUM-MEDIATED NEW ATTACHEMENT?
And if so, are you claiming that Fotona and Lares are selling the Fotona Nd:YAG in order to accomplish LANAP as described in the FDA clearance?
I WANT TO CLARIFY. HAVING RECENTLY TALKED TO THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM LARES AND READING THE INFORMATION ON THE FOTONA WEB SITE, YOU CAN REST ASSURED THAT AT NO TIME HAVE THEY REPRESENTED THAT THEIR LASERS ARE SOLD TO ACCOMPLISH LANAP AS DESCRIBED IN THE FDA CLEARANCE.

    RESPECTFULLY
    FMN

    Thank you for your reply.

    Very truly yours,

    Frank,

The post right above Dr. Gregg's is from a distributor of the Fotona in the UK.

Why would they say they can do it when they represent the manufacturer and then deny it was ever done? I have heard Lares tout it's laser has the ability to do LANAP in “wispered” tones at trade shows. I don't think that they say this any longer out of suit fears.

To answer your other question, you probably could do LANAP with the Fotona unit if you are licensed to do it (though you would risk some failures and some patient danger during the procedure due to the limited number of pulse widths), but you have to be licensed to do the procedure.

To answer it in another way, I have had cementum mediated attachment with a diode, but it was inconsistant and rare (even within the same patients mouth!). You might be able to get cementum mediated attachment with the erbium wavelength on the Powerlase. Dr. Gregg says that you could probably get CMA with a hot paperclip if you did it perfectly.

So, until you get a LANAP license and know how to do it, try not.

Does anyone use their diode in a non contact optical fashion for cutting tissue? This is becoming an increasingly hot topic with manufacturers releasing 940 and 980 nm units; my personal experience isthe diode is primarily a contact unit for cutting due to the surface char that forms in non-contact mode. Opinions, please!

Had a comment from someone that they were concerned that usernames being visible in forums might make people uncomfortable knowing everyone could see what threads and forums they were visiting. What do you think? Problem?

Don't have a diode anymore but I'd agree with you a diode is a diode is a diode…AKA hot glass.

That's been my opinion for quite a while, Ron, but I just wanted to check and see if I've been missing anything. IMHO, a diode's greatest advantage is the fact you can pick it up and carry it around, not unlike Dino…
