Thanks for the explanation Bob. My thick skull doesn’t allow me to grasp the obvious. Just to make you feel better, the CEOs and CFOs often find my questions annoying too.

    Hi guys,
I am down since yesterday.  The Waterlaser just quit working.  I could restart it but it would shut down within a few seconds of use.

My tech thinks it is the power board which is not tolerating voltage changes well.  An up graded model is being build for my machine but we will lose a week before it is repaired.  No over night service for me.  It seems us jack pine savages may need to keep our own spare parts.  Whats the name of that other machine Glenn?  Does it come with a free scope?

    Mark,
I used one of your spoons today. Man was that thing sharp. I wonder about my regular spoons. It worked very well and definitely did the job. Thanks.

    I’ll second that Pat.
I’ve gone in after a round burr and still peeled out decay. If you guys don’t have these things , you need to get some from Mark.

    Pat,
I’ve been debating using a power backup/voltage conditioner like those used with computers. Our power is kinda unreliable. I think you just convinced me.

Sorry to hear about the problems. Hope they get you up and going quickly.

My oh my, I wish there was a way to turn RED on this site! Thank you gentlemen for your kudos on the spoons. If anyone is interested, you can purchase them at [url=”http://www.laserdentaltools.com.”%5Dwww.laserdentaltools.com.%5B/url%5D I like them too, however, I selfishly made them for myself, and others saw them, and asked if they could get some….America. Thanks again all for your wonderful feedback.
    Sincerely,
    Mark

I concur……they are very very sharp and its weird but after using the laser for a while the water seems to rehydrate the decay and it just peels out on those mushy ones.

If you havent got a set, order them today. I am using the instruments for many of my composites. They really are great and they even work with the Continuum Delight…….imagine that huh!

Just giving you a bad time Mark……..they are very nice.

Pat, you are a funny guy. Actually I wish guys like Alfred Wyatt whom I really respect, Alan Cady and other Con Bio users would tell me about their days when the laser was down. What was the problem etc……

I honestly do think that reliability is a big issue with some lasers. I may be in the minority but I just keep reading about trunk fibers and problems with certain lasers ( I know Mark doesnt have them) and I wonder if this is something that happens with most lasers or what.

PS no it doesnt come with a scope but Deka lasers is looking into making a combo scope + laser ( I talked to them at the CDA about it). COol concept even if I dont like the articulated arm.

Hope you get up and running really really quick.

    All the best.

Mark, they darn well be good. By the way, what’s the return policy? Ha, ha.

I am a relatively new dentist (graduated in ’99). I bought an older practice and am converting it to a laser-focused practice. I am using an Nd:YAG and an Er,Cr:YSGG laser. My hygienist is using an 820nm diode.
We also use a diagnodent. All of this technology has taken a significant bite out of my profits. Have any other laser users out there had to make changes in their fees to accomodate this type of change?

    Any suggestions will help. Thanks.

    Hi Kelly,

    Welcome to the forum.

We just used the Udell Webb info and made sure our fees were in line with where they should be. We had been very low according to the info, so we did raise fees a couple months before starting up with the lasers.

Seems to have worked out well.

Thanks for the the response, Ron. I’m not familiar with the Udell Webb info. What is it and where would I find it to compare my fees? Thanks, again

Had a new pt. come in today who reports having a true allergy to amides. She needs two teeth extracted. Any thoughts on how to do this without the use of local anesthetic?

Kudo’s Glenn. I agree totally. Salespeople are just salespeople, BUT they should know the products and their real clinical uses. If someone knows who this person is, send me a private message if you want me to contact them. I really have a problem with this as well. My initial Biolase rep, really knew his stuff, which is why I bought my laser. There are good Biolase reps out there, but there are some who are learning. I am sure this is the case with other companies as well.

    My 2 cents worth….Montanan!
