AnonymousInactiveI have an extream phobia of the dentist office, with massive anixity attacks while waiting. I have had some work done before with a drill but I know for a fact that I will not be able to hold it together when I do in to get a filling on my top right canine.
My gums are fine, nice and pink, my teeth are all bright and white… but I still have pressure on all of top jaw and that one cavity… so I ask, can laser dentistry help me?

SwpmnSpectatorI would like to report that we’ve now completed four years of service with our HOYA ConBio DELight Er:YAG dental laser. We use the unit every workday for procedures such as composite preparations, caries removal during crown preps, surgical extractions, biopsies, reflection of periosteal flaps for crown lengthening, treatment of apthous ulcerations, frenectomies, etc.
We have only had a single service call to repair a non-laser related electrical connection within the unit. The repair was completed during the original one year warranty period. Taking a chance, an extended service contract has never been purchased.
I still utilize the original optical fiber delivery system which came with the unit. The DELight ablates dental structures just as well today as it did when first delivered. We have always used distilled water for our irrigation system. Our only out of pocket costs have been laser tips.
Best thing is, our laser is paid off and still workin’ like a charm!!!!!!!!!!!

It was because of you and a few others that my second laser purchase was different from my first. Your reliability stories convinced me that my second erbium was going to be a Versawave.Thanks for all your contributions to ldf, over the years, as they have had an impact.
zendentistSpectatorI tried like heck to wear out my DeLight, but after six years I gave up and traded it in on a VersaWave last December. Hoya seems to have an extremely reliable platform; my experience has been very postive.

This laser was fired from a mountain top in Chile, aimed at the center of the Milky Way galaxy to study the atmospheric distortion of astronomical lenses. It was featured on NASA’s “astronomy picture of the day” website July 31, 2007.
Given the diameter of the Milky Way is 100,000 light years and our Solar System is located approximately 3/4ths of the length of the spiral arm from the galactic center, it will take this laser approximately 37,500 years to reach the center!
Kind of mindboggling!

dmd92eastSpectatorI know this is a little off topic and probably should be posted there but I wanted to ask my Erbium comrades, especially those in the Tampa Florida area, if anybody has heard of this Institute and had any experience with it. The reason for my asking is that my father, a retired dentist, is suffering with a bad case of spinal stenosis something all us dentists may have to look forward too. Obviously, he has been told by the orthopods that invasive spinal surgery is the only way to go. phil2uallSpectatorI havew it and it is cool, the tips that come with itare 3.5 mm too short to get interproximal when troughing in most cases. I am getting the perio tips when they come in 6 mm but all tips are currently backordered.
