only thing i can think of is periodontist stirred things up a bit a few days prior during scaling and root planing.. Maybe sterilizing with the laser would have been enough but I had the atridox handy and I figured it definitely couldnt hurt…but there was no calculus in the pocket at all……

    Hi All,

Any user of Biolitec 980? Comments on your impression and clinical experience will be appreciated.

The same question and opinion on the Diodent 810 please.

If you were to invest in a soft tissue diode, which will it be?

    Hi there

I am a dentist in London,UK and am interested in a Waterlase.
I found a 2nd hand one in Mississipy which is 20 months old.Is this the latest version? Is the price of &#3620000 reasonable?(in the UK a new one cost &#3668000 including tax minimal training by a rep and 1 yrs warenty)
I can ship it to the Uk and find someone to instul it and someone to train me,but my question is this worth it?
I find your forum very interesting and I have already lernt abit about the laser world you are all in.I also went to Marc Colonnas simposium in Londod which was very inspiring!
    Thanks for any tips

There are two versions of the Waterlase……..the Millenium 1 and 2.

The millenium 1 was very stable but was very big and had an awkward fiber.

The millenium 2 is smaller and has several refinements. It may not be as reliable as the 1 according to some with respect to the fibers.

I would ask the dentist when he got it, which version it is, why he is selling it and maybe contact Biolase and find out what is covered under the warranty.

It is my opinion that lasers travelling long distances may end up DOA and be an expensive proposition.

I have seen stuff about second hand lasers on Dental Town and most people told the buyer to beware. The cost difference is not so great in the US as it is for you so maybe it is a serious consideration.

I wonder if you bought a new one from the states and shipped it what the overall cost would be?

HI DCM: this has been one of my biggest beefs with some of the laser manufacturers is the lack of education and support for the product once it is purchased. You get the product they install it and say……thanks very much and that is it.

Many are to shy to say anything and it sits in a corner after a few negative experiences.

I think that is the beauty of the forum is that some experienced people like Bob can help out but it is tough when he sells a different product than the one you just purchased.

Its crazy in my mind for Lares to think that they can sell a product and then not provide you with comprehensive training that allows you to get up to speed with it.

I would phone them and ask for who their experts for Lapt are and then go and spend a day with them.

If you dont get the right answers, then look at Bobs laser and see if he will accpet a trade in. At least you know you are going to get training.

I am going to be seeing Bob this week in Anaheim at the CDA and hope to be able to get a chance to really see his product up close and personal…….

All the best in your efforts but training shouldnt have to be this hard should it??

    Hi Andrew,
This is the first time that I’ve posted to this forum but I’ve had the pleasure to meet and learn from some of these good people as well as monitor other laser message boards. I have used the DioDent in my practice for about a year now and have been very happy.I use it every day with perio patients and have also used it for gingivectomies, biopsies, gingival troughing, flap surgeries, and a couple of bleaching cases. I also obtained training in California at an ALD approved Standard Proficiency course that gave me a full understanding of what I was doing. Since I only have the DioDent, i can only speak for my success with it from the corporate point of view, but the concept of using the laser for soft tissue treatment, regardess of the wavelength (810,980,1064,2790, 2940) has definite advantages. When I get the courage, I’ll post some cases.

I have only used the 980 on steak, but have used the 810 ADT for a while now. I would have gotten the ConBio if I were buying today. It is more compact than either the biolitec or what I have. The Con Bio diode is also quite a bit less &#36&#36&#36 than the last time I priced the 980 nM.

Interesting to see the negative comments on GI’s.
My personal experience is when it comes to restoring the depths of proximal boxes etc, they provide a superior seal to composites.

Equally they (Fuji 9) are excellent for restoring occlusal micropreps.

Then you have Fuji Tirage which has so many applications in prevention etc that I can’t undertand how people practice with using the fabulous materials
