ASISpectatorHi Bob,
Your wife’s cooking? Is that a Freudian slip of your better half’s culinary standard?
Thanks for sharing again.
Great stuff you post, Bob.

ASISpectatorHi Ken,
I am just about to receive it. In fact, it was supposed to arrive this week. I am using my Hoya ConBio Delight laser for the past 2 weeks. Going great so far. It cuts soft tissue very well but I need the 980nm to coagulate.
I am in West Vancouver, BC in Canada. There is just a handful of laser users in BC. Most notably is Glenn van As who is an inspiration to all, not just in lasers but in microcopes. I am waiting for my scope to arrive as well.
This is a great meeting place. Thanks to Ron Schalter.
Hope some of us will get a chance to meet at some laser event down the road as I have already met some during the California Dental Convention in late April.

ASISpectatorBob,
You and Del have thought of just about everything with the PerioLase.
The more I follow your PerioLase, the more I learn and continue to be impressed.
Andrew
Glenn van AsSpectatorYes Bob there are alot of impressive things about the Periolase……..keep on posting , I learn with each of them.

PS cya Monday night for a few laughs and a good time in Anaheim.

Andrew SatlinSpectatorHi Ken ,
Interesting case. Peri-implantitis is probably my least favorite scenario to treat. I place a fair amount of implants.
I am curious why you chose the laser in this situation as opposed to plastic curettes. Risk of heating or modifying the surface.
Also, for those not familiar with implant uncovering, I wanted to point out that the degranulation should always be completed with the cover screw on. The picture shows it removed.
Last, I am not a fan of biomaterials but it looks like an ideal case to collect some bone from the surrounding area and graft the exposed threads. No membrane or synthetics needed.
Most importantly, It appears to be placed well. I bet it will continue to be a very successful case.
See ya,
Andy
SwpmnSpectatorLooks good Ron.
How old was the patient? Teenage female?
What tip did you use?
What was the approximate application time?
Thanks,
Al
vinceSpectatorNice work Ron,
EMLA….codeine….heroin…….don’t forget marijuana (apparently not illegal anymore) as well eh!
Vince
Glenn van AsSpectatorVery nice case Ken……great pics and a nice result. You have the handpiece with the water in it dont you.
What settings did you use , for how long.
Glenn
whitertthSpectator16 y/o t-4 tip…total time 4 minutes or so …
SwpmnSpectatorMickey:
The tips will do fine in the autoclave.
I keep at least three tips(G6) rotating and estimate they work effectively for 36 to 48 procedures per tip.

Don ColuzziSpectatorHello: A couple of questions. Is this an Erbium family laser?–I think that from your parameters. it might be an Er, Cr:YSGG. I can’t quite tell from the photo, but did you not continue interproximally onto the lingual? If you did, how long did you apply the EMLA? If you didn’t, are you concerned about the remaining fibers, since the pre-op papilla looks like there are fibers there? Thanks for the post and any answers you can give. Keep smiling and lasing.
whitertthSpectatorI applied the emla for 10 minutes….I went slightly to the lingual ans tols the parents i may have to touch it up on follow up…I dont often worry too much about the remaining fibers but it is a very valid point…The laser used was the waterlase….. Thanks for the questions
Robert Gregg DDSSpectatorNaw. She’s an awesome cook……

marc andre gagnonSpectatorI use DElight since 1 1/2 year and we use self seal sterilization pouch 2 1/4 X 4 inches after each use. We place them into statim with a note in the front of the cassette for a special attention in the sterilisation area.
We broke no more tip since that time
Kenneth LukSpectatorHi Andy,
Plastic currettes would have been quicker at removing the granulation tissue. I just wanted to try this out using the 980 as Biolitec was saying that the implant would not be damaged.
The cover screw was in place during tissue removal.
Yes, it would have been a much better solution to cover the threads with autogenous bone. How much longer will I have to wait if I were to place the graft?
Your comments are most welcomed!
