Robert Gregg DDSSpectatorYep, numb her up and burn it down to basement membrane…..or do the same with erbium.
Seems they need to have a new laser wound created.

SwpmnSpectatorMickey:
Unfortunately the mirrors on the Waterlase do burn out and need refurbishing or replacement. Repair fee you mentioned seems awfully expensive to me but then I’m not a laser manufacturer.
Like you said, a full service contract on the Waterlase that does not cover the optical fiber has questionable value. The company tried that with me once and I just said NO. Maintenance fees on these instruments sometimes make me question the real Return On Investment.
So, my post is probably of no value but at least there are others out there that feel your pain.
Best Wishes,
Al
mickey franklSpectatorI think Biolase sould offer a service contrsct that includes the fibre and the mirror heads because obveously they have a problem compared to other non companies
Thanks Al for your support

Man can you see my bald spot!!!!!!!!!!!!
HubertSpectatorI have successfully “reshaped” my Opus tips with a diamond wheel and diaglaze polishing wheels. If you really need a chisel (let me know what/how you will be using it) I would shape a 1300 micron tip with the above mentioned tools and make sure they are really well polished from all sides.
Hope that helps.Hubert
HubertSpectatorI have been fortunate to test-drive the SIROLaser for a couple of weeks and it is a very nice, small-footprint piece of equipment. I have not found any thermal problems, even while doing full mouth pocket decontamination, being existent. Apparently, as they do not yet (!) have FDA approval, they can not publish widely (as a matter of fact an article I wrote about the SIROLaser was censored by 1/4 before it would be legal to be published). This week there will be the “kick-off” event in Germany for the trainers and you bet they will be going public in the US as soon as they will get FDA approval.
spider24Spectator“I can’t believe there is not a company that can provide a clip-on fliter for an NdYAG for less than 跌. Where is the competition?”
The problem is the cost for proper testing and certification according to IEC207. I did it with filters for our diode: $ 2.500. And the certification is only valid for exactly one type of laser and one type of loupes. For every other combination of laser/loupes you have to do the complete testing again.

JanetCenturySpectatorAwesome – nice job. Any calls from non-lasering periodontists yet??

SwpmnSpectatorGreat spot Dave!
You’re my hero.
How come you use the low power loupes for the scaling? Isn’t that contraindicated;) ?
