Great Ron! Removing GP is one of my least favorite things.

    Thank you for posting.

    Cool Ron,

Was the gutta percha heated in a defocused mode and then removed with another instrument ? Or was there direct contact with the gutta percha and the fiber ? Did the gutta percha stick to the fiber for easy removal ? I tried removing gutta percha as you showed and got alot of sparking and noise that got mine and the patients attention.

Bruce, I had my assistant spray water on the target as I did it. 1st time I did it w/o water and got the same sparking and noise as you did. Actually the laser energy just ‘vaporized’ the g.p. and I didn’t need any other instruments.

    Hi Robert,

    Couple of questions.

Did you remove the donor tissue with a laser or scalpel ?
My experience has been less pain sometimes after laser than scalpel treatment of soft tissue. Not everyone will agree with this statement.

Did you happen to use tricaine blue and septocaine to anesthetize here ?I suspect this combo could give an adverse response(esp if the tricaine blue is left on too long and too much pressure is applied with the septocaine). Ask me how I know.

I have had limited success using my Ercr:Yssg for laser bandaids as far as long lasting pain relief goes on surgical sites but have had great success  with apthous ulcers . I have been using my new FRP : NdYAG recently for extraction sites and other pain areas and am having very satisfying results. This probably can be explained by something to do with  those chromophores, you know, those target tissue absorption rates that vary tissue interactions depending on wavelength, blah, blah ,blah- I leave that stuff to Bob Gregg..maybe he’ll chime in here.

I hope the J-E-T-S can beat Oakland this week. What a horrible year we are having.

Sorry, Bruce I missed this question. This is something Bob/Del will talk to you about a little further down in your lanap education. Its basically a speed efficiency thing and something you need to be careful with to make sure you don’t overheat tissue. I’d make sure I was real comfortable in the traditional settings before doing this.

Update on one patient. After his “mini-treatment” (3000 joules) last week, he reports less biting of his lip (he’s not a complainer – I never even knew it was a problem) and he’s happy he can give raspberries again. He said the inside of his lip was fully back. We did 10K joules today on the outside. Needless to say he is thrilled and I feel like a magician.

As an aside, I’d like to take an opportunity to thank Ron for providing this forum as a place to learn, and a place that is safe enough to post even shortcomings without fear. THANKS RON.

    Yes Janet,

Mucho thanks to Ron for providing this safe haven. Janet, great benefit you provided to your patient. I mentioned the parathesia reversal potential to the OS today and he said it wasn’t possible. Show me the science . probably just some hype from within the laser company.Yukkk, best not to discuss this incredible stuff with some.

    gotta run

    Bob,

Please tell everyone at Millennium what a terrific job they all did. It has been a long time (if ever) that I have been this excited after learning new stuff. I usually do not work on Mondays but was delighted when I got called in for an emergency. The patient could have used some biostimulation after an extraction but the only dental laser in the building is a CO2 laser. Oh well, progress will have to wait until my laser gets here!

Thanks again to all who taught, fed, drove, and generally treated us like kings and queens for the past few days. It was truly a treat and I look forward to going back for day 6. You guys are a class act and I am pleased to be associated with you!

    Warmest regards to all,
    Gail

    Hey New Periolase users,

Congratulations on finishing up bootcamp. Hold on for a great ride. I went to september bootcamp and just like you… was really pumped up when I got back. Thing is …it is now three months later and I am still pumped about the possibilities that this laser can do.

Don’t forget to get into the periolase forum here..there’s lots of great info you’ll want in there.

Bob and Del definitely know how to educate and have made learning sooooo much fun.

    Kelly,

I am looking forward to meeting you and seeing your presentation in Feb. Could you tell me which tip or tips you mostly use for a preparation like this.

Also, where can one learn more about Cerec and the microscope stuff.
