    Hey Mark, At one time I think they were considering this but will they recognize my ALD Adv. Proficiency or do I have to go thru all the presentation stuff again?

    Ron,

    I am up to finish my Adv. Prof. with the ALD this coming year (did not make the last meeting–niece’s wedding). Any help would be appreciated. I am left with presentations for the Er,cr:YSGG and Nd;YAG pulsed.

    Was thinking about the Fellowship thing, but am getting tired of chasing the “letters”.

    You might want to compare these writeups to what was edited by Don Coluzzi for publication in Wavelengths to see what I missed in the write-up part.

    Just beware, according to someone with ‘inside’ connections, I almost didn’t get thru this because someone who had never done a laser crown prep didn’t believe I did it at the parameters I used. I won’t comment any further on that other than to help you know what you might expect and to offer best wishes on completing this.

    Anyone heared ofthe fotona dental laser?
    I have a friend who says he did alot of reserch and decided this is the best dental laser available.
    Aparently it can also be used for cosmetic medicine procedures such as hair removal,facial rejuvenation etc,(a field I am going into right now with the Galaxy Syneron laser and radiofreuancy)

    Seriously, great job on the composites!
    Did you find you had to go back in a few times with the laser as you were prepping or etching to control bleeding?

    The Fotona laser in a dual modality laser which has both Nd:YAG as well as an Er:YAG laser. It probably has the widest range of applications on the market, including cavity preparation and caries/filling material removal, tooth whitening, both periodontal and endodontic applications, as well as oral surgery procedures.

    The Fidelis Plus III includes an intuative interface with simple pre-set applications, as well as the new facility of a dermatology ad-on which will allow for minor hair removal, fine vein removal and simple facial rejuvenation procedures.

    Because of it’s unique VSP (Variable Square Pulse) technology Fotona has pushed the precision of laser treatments into a new dimension. This technology allows the practitioner to accomodate the laser pulse duration and its fluence according to the needs of the specific application.

    Hi Guys
    I saw a patient recently that mentioned a numb lower left lip after having a free gingival graft procedure done almost a year ago. I have seen Ron’s case on this forum previously and told the patient about it. The patient was very excited and wanted to give it a try. She indicated the numb area on her lip with a pen.

    I used Ron’s post as a guideline and treated the patient with the Nd:YAG at 20Hz, 150mJ pulse energy with 100usec pulse duration. A total of 4000J was applied. Just like Ron mentioned I also found “hot spots” that I applied more energy to. I saw the patient a week later and asked her to indicate the numb area again.

    The patient is of course very pleased at this point. I have treated her with the laser again today, bumping up the enrgy slightly to 200mJ and used a total of 4200J. Even if things stabilize at this point I think it has been a big success.

    Cut another notch in your (laser)gun! I tried your desensitising settings last week on a patient where Sensodyne had failed. Saw her again today for a follow up and sensitivity is gone!!

    The 750ml distilled water irrigant reservoir bottle on my HOYA ConBio DELight erbium developed a crack along the plastic seam. I’ve been sealing it with composite resin for awhile.

    My assistant Maria(always trying to save me money) was looking through a catalog and noticed what appeared to be the exact same reservoir bottle. She ordered the bottle and installed it on the DELight. Works great.
