I think this is a great idea. Minimally invasive is happening all over dentistry…Operative, perio, endo oral surgery…not only lasers…different treatment modalities, material etc….. I think this is a great idea..

    Dear Mr. Mir,

When you make the statement, “…but yes LANAP procedures can be carried out no problem…”  I have to ask you, a practicing clinician of LANAP for 17 years, how you can justify and defend that claim from a scientific standpoint?

LANAP stands for “Laser assisted new attachment procedure”.  LANAP is a very specific and defined periodontal treatment protocol that was cleared by the FDA only after demonstrating to the FDA scientists and periodontist that the human histology completed by Professor Ray Yukna demonstrated “cementum-mediated new attachement”.

In fact, the specific FDA clearance reads, “Laser assisted new attachment procedure (cementum-mediated new periodontal ligament attachment to the root surface in the absence of long junctional epithelium.”

So in order for me and others who practice LANAP to fully understand your statment, are you claiming that the FRP Nd:YAG manufactured by Fotona and distributed in the USA by Lares Research can indeed result in cementum-mediated new attachment?  And if so, are you claiming that Fotona and Lares are selling the Fotona Nd:YAG in order to accomplish LANAP as described in the FDA clearance?

    Thank you for your reply.

    Very truly yours,

    Hi Guys
Further report on this case. Both the max anteriors as well as the #31 shows pocket depth reduction, lack of mobility as well as abscence of drainage from the sulcus.
At this stage I would see the treatment as being succesfull. Patient is really happy.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks Dino
It has been a slow process but hopefully it will continue filling in, especially the furcation area. I’ll keep adding to the case pics as I monitor the patient.
    Take care

Does anyone have another source for fibers that may be less expensive than Biolase?

    Thanks for the help!

They don’t list any on their site nor on any of the information they have sent me in the mail.

    But I have not asked!

    Thanks

Is there a simple way to reduce pixel size without going to photoshop or another program?
    Nick

If you have Windows XP, all you gotta do to re-size image is right click on the image and selct “send to mail recpient”. Another window will pop up where you choose “make pictures smaller” and then just e-mail to yourself. The picture file in the e-mail will already be resized to the proper size for posting.

    Hi all,
I was approached with the idea of starting a new forum on LDF which would deal with MID (minimally invasive dentistry). The proposal included and offer by someone to serve as moderator. Before asking for such a commitment from this person, I’d like to gauge the amount of interest and if it would be worth pursuing.
    Thoughts?

I would imagine that the MID forum topics would include both hard and soft tissue procedures? The case below is an example where the pt’s  consult recommendations ranged form osseous surgery to FM extractions. Wouldn’t Lanap also qualify as an MID procedure?
