Guys, this is all moot now. Hate to say it, but BioLase is dead and Hoya is on life support, thanks to Fotona. No dentist new to lasers is going to pay what Biolase and Hoya are commanding when Fotona will sell them a dual wavelength laser with superior technology for $71K. The only problem with Fotona is that they have NO research on the perio technique that Joel “Fotona” White is advocating, basically a rearrangement of LANAP protocol steps. The have no cred, no depth, and no research in their perio arena, and that’s going to get them into trouble. They definitely are not Millennium in terms of their corporate knowledge or training practices, and their blatant “piggybacking” on LANAP protocols leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Unless Hoya or Biolase does some radical redesign, I think we’re seeing the last of their generations. Biolase doesn’t have the money to design a new laser, and Hoya doesn’t seem to be so inclined. Which is a shame, because as good as the Fotona is, the unit is big, loud, and difficult to move. Nonetheless, I think it’s pretty well positioned to rule at least the erbium segment of the market and is going to keep Millennium busy wagging fingers…

    Hi Ron-

I am a four year user of the periolase. I just had my first parathesia case after a particularly bad lower molar endo. She has numbness on the left tip of the tongue, a triangular area of 2.5 X 2.5 X 3.0 cm. At what setting are you reccommending the biostim? For how long? Should we try to aim for the area of injection mainly, or more diffuse. Extraoral, intraoral or both. What kind of informed consent should we use? ANy forms around here that would work? Thanks for the help getting me logged on. Lastly, this patient was never treated with the laser prior to this incident. Thanks, Forrest

Forrest, the very first post of this thread has the parameters listed in between the pix. You can use the parameters and calculate the time needed e.g. 3.6W= 3.6J/sec so that = 216 J/minute and if you want to put in 4000J then 4000J/216=roughly 19 minutes.

I didn’t use any informed consent and don’t know of any. I doubt that it would do any good even if you do find one as this is what I’d consider ‘really off label’ use.

I don’t think I’ve heard as many successes with tongues as I have with lips when it comes to reversing parathesia.

Check at the bottom at the page when viewing this thread. You will see a “similar thread’ section that lists 4 other threads dealing with parathesia reversal. If memory serves me correctly there is something in one of those regarding treating the tongue.

I think your right. It seems Biolase keeps making bad decisions. It is rather a shame . I do think Fotona is going to become a major player . Biolases strong point has always been the advanced training that was available. That is gone and in LAres ball park. At some point LAres/Fotona is going to have to pony up and deal with Millenium and their patented procedure. There is a right way to do things and a wrong way, it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

    Hi Gang,

I just found out about the history of Royal Raymond Rife, his microscope and his work. It seems that they have reversed engineered his tubes and equipment and are using this technology for more than the Mortal Oscillatory Rate for pathogens. They are talking about biostimulation and improving bodily functions.

You guys and gals are way more advanced than I am on this so please give me your take on this subject and how you have used this technology for your patients.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi, Bob.

I have a meeting with a Cobbite on Tuesday. If this is in print, I’d like to know where I can find it. By the way, the Cobbite basic only used gingivectomies to treat perio and these look like they were performed with a weed-wacker! Still, he is threatening to report me to the powers-that-be if I don’t stop advertising I treat advanced perio with a laser.

My question about Rife technology is valid. The person that I was talking to was discussing photobiostimulation and other effects that the Beam Ray has. This should be the last place to suppress dialogue about different health care modalities.

I truly hope that I have not been banned.

Arnold, you weren’t banned. A spammer posted something else that was inappropriate for the site. The post was removed and that user was banned.

    Ron:

Oh my god, you damned laser guys just thing you’re so special. I bet the laser had nothing to do with it; the endodontist just “loosened it up” for you:p

Did he “trough” with a bur or a piezo scaler? Was this an endodontist who received speciality treatment in the United States? Thanks for posting the settings; I used the P-lase along with a piezo to remove a Dentatus post from a distal molar root. It was actually a very beneficial procedure not only to the patient but to me as well; the post was so big I was able to take it home and screw down a piece of decking that had curled up in the sun.

The Secret Holy Password is rotated on an irregular basis using a captured WWII Nazi Enigma Encoding Device. You have to guess at it; telepathy helps. I’ve been using the dictionary, one word at a time in alphabetical order. So far I’m up to “aangtsrom” (I really thought that would work), but no luck.

Word on the grapevine is that some guy named Admin knows it, and if you send a glazed donut to Dino, he’ll give it up. He’ll give up anything for a glazed donut.
