Recently, our Waterlase has not been finding the footswitch. It seems well connected and none of the cords are crimped or damaged.

Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

Hello all, I guess I’m one of the first non-Michigan guys here. For those who haven’t read my thread on the main periolase forum, Delta of NJ denied one of my LANAP claims solely because I used a laser. The main reasons cited by the consultant were: it’s still investigational, it doesn’t have enough pub lit support, ADA and AAP position papers aren’t favorable towards it. The consultant I talked to, Dr Zweig, seemed real smug. Like he knew all my arguements and didn’t seem to care when I told him I would complain to the ins commissioner and others. Maybe these Delta consultants are starting to talk with each other. I’m hoping I don’t get placed on focused review. We’ll see what happens.

I believe IPS discontinued medical billing a few years ago after a bit of controversy.

It seems according to the Delta Dental News (you can use) we have our final answer about their stand on lasers. No one brand/technique was mentioned. Interesting.

Since the ‘cat is out of the bag’, do we need this special forum any longer?

I have a patient, a speech pathologist, searching for a dentist or OMS performing laser frenulectomies, in the NYC area, Manhattan or Bronx. Any reliable leads are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Wes

Sam heard from Steve Knowlton in St. Clair Shores. He also was put on notice that he is on Focused Review for “all gingival flap and osseous procedures starting October 1st.”

Hi, I am a very new user of LANAP and have a similiar question about a patient who has experienced significant radiotherapy for esophageal cancer for areas 17-20. teeth 18,19 have deep furcation involvement and I am searching for similiar answers. I think it should be great for LANAP but no data? thanks for any insight.

During my battles with Delta, Tom McClellan informed me as I stated previously. Delta will allow you to bill for alternative benefits. In the case of denied D4250 (LANAP) I have billed for SRP and occlusal adjustment. These have been paid. As long as the patient is eligible for these these services they should be covered.

As for LANAP I was told I could bill the patient since coverage was denied. On some of the submissions Delta had changed its status to “disallow.” Disallow means you can not bill the patient. In these referenced submissions, Delta did back down on its disallow position and reverted back to denied .

    Ron,

I received denials upfront. In my situation Delta decided that they would assume all osseous was using the laser, therefore it didn’t qualify for coverage.

The disallow situations came about right after I sent a formal complaint to the OFIR (Ins Commiss). Seemed like they were playing hardball.

Its a waste of time to Pre-D surgery since Delta will deny the claim once they review your charting after the fact. During focused review you have to send a copy of the charting including treatment notes. If Delta treats you the same as I, it will go as follows. If you don’t list what you used and how, Delta will deny the claim and then tell you they assumed you used the laser.

If you did “traditional” osseous without laser, sutures used, etc.. then you have to prove it. Delta told me that they would consider contacting patients directly to verify. ( Check to see if I was lying and committing fraud)
