hi Teddy,
you are absolutely right.
Like you, I used to refer all my endos out for 8 years. Since PIPS in 2010, I’ve been doing them for fun AND it pays for itself just doing one or two endos a month! That’s why I bought this laser. More revenue and it pays for itself.
You can also do snoring reduction which is very welcomed by the suffering partner!

Mark,
I’ve been reading about the PIPS endo…and watched the video from the WCMID meeting. It looks just fascinating. How long have you been doing this procedure? Are they working out well? Seems to me that just doing one or 2 root canal treatments a month (I refer them all out) would pay for the laser.

Ken,

Glad to see you on the forum here! You’ve got the Fotona Fidelis in HK, right? Would love to see your cases posted here, on DentalTown or on the Lightwalker/Powerlase Facebook site. Anyone else in your neck of the woods using the Fidelis or Lightwalker? Please elaborate on the snoring reduction…that seems to be outside of the scope of dentistry but am still very interested! Has your Fotona laser replaced your Elexxion diode for many procedures? Please say hello to Phillip for me!

I am surprised to learn that people are still asking these kinds of questions. Here is how I do it. Every time I need to find someone, say a “dentist“, I good to Google and write something like “dentist in Los Angeles”. Google is great because it produces tons of quality results. But I do agree with Alex. It is good to be able to read other people’s feedback. Yelp, yes, it is a good place. There is also manta I think.

I have a patient who has a tendency to form keloids with any soft tissue related procedures. She needs a frenectomy. It will be performed with a Piccaso laser. Does anyone have any experience with this? With the use of this laser, will there be an increase or decrease in keloid fprmations???

Ask Mrs McCarthy, she can locate LANAP dentists in your area. You can do this on the public lanap website find a dentist. Just like AGD members, LANAP dentists tend to be progressive.

Hope that works for as long as possible. If it recurs, cracked root. Seen a bunch of them over the years….

Today’s orthodontic patients are interested in more than just straight teeth. They know that what makes a good smile become great is having ideal gingival contours (shape and size of the gums), well-proportioned teeth and facial balance. The diode laser is one tool that allows us to optimize and improve our patient’s smiles. These lasers are comfortable, safe and very effective. The procedure is done with a strong topical anesthetic, so there are no shots needed!

A laser may be used to gain access to the infected nerve and clean, shape, enlarge and disinfect the root canal (Endodontics). Advantages of using a laser to perform a root canal are that the procedure oftentimes may be performed without anesthesia and its use conserves as much natural tooth structure and strength as possible. The endodontist’s goal in root canal therapy is to disinfect the root canal and fill the area with an inert material while maintaining as much strength of the tooth as possible. The precision and disinfecting qualities of the laser help dentists achieve these goals.

Having natural pink color gums is very important for good smile. Smile looks beautiful if one has beautiful teeth with natural looking pink gums. But that is not always possible. Generally the gums color is same as the skin color. The people from the west are fair and their gum color is also pink mostly. Dark gums are mostly seen in dark skinned people. The gum discoloration may be present in patches. The extent of gum discoloration and the intensity is different for different individuals. Dark pigmented gums don’t mean that they are unhealthy and are not an indication of a disease.

Your teeth are held in place by roots that extend into your jawbone. Front teeth usually have one root. Other teeth, such as your premolars and molars, have two or more roots. The tip or end of each root is called the apex. Nerves and blood vessels enter the tooth through the apex. They travel through a canal inside the root, and into the pulp chamber. This chamber is inside the crown (the part of the tooth you can see in your mouth).

During root canal treatment, your dentist cleans the canals using special instruments called files. Inflamed or infected tissue is removed. An apicoectomy may be needed when an infection develops or won’t go away after root canal treatment or re-treatment.

A labial frenectomy is a form of frenectomy performed on the lip.

The labial frenulum often attaches to the center of the upper lip and between the upper two front teeth. This can cause a large gap and gum recession by pulling the gums off the bone. A labial frenectomy removes the labial frenulum. Orthodontic patients often have this procedure done to assist with closing a front tooth gap. When a denture patient’s lips move, the frenulum pulls and loosens the denture which can be uncomfortable. This surgery is often done to help dentures fit better.

Dentist’s must be specially trained in order to use Sedation techniques. This article about sedation dentistry should be helpful.

Any suggestions on the removal of an intraoral hip graft. The area has some traumatic leukoplakia and sloughs. Pt.’s prosthodontist would like it removed to improve denture comfort and seat.
