BenchwmerSpectatorI went to Dentin Bonding Agents as my pulp cap in 1995 (Kanca & or Bertolotti methods), acid etch, then DBA, then Flowable compsite, then bonded composite restoration. Threw away the Calcium Hydroxide.
Since 1999, Nd:YAG laser to remove the remainder of caries when see pink, if exposure cauterize w/ Nd:YAG, then Etch,DBAs, Flowable.
Now Nd:YAG, Self-etching DBA (I-Bond or One-Up bond), Flowable.
4-6 months later some fail, I blame on carious exposures, with CaOH techniques most would fail, many within days.
Not a reason to buy a Nd:YAG, but another use for the tool if you have one.

Glenn van AsSpectatorMaybe get one of those spiffy lasers that you arent using up to another third world country North of you…….

Glenn van AsSpectatorHi Mark…………I emailed you privately but will repost publically this reply
Marks instruments are awesome. I purchased my first set and will use his kit soon for all restorative composite resins……..why?
1. His spoons are wonderful especially for erbium procedures. What I find is that the dentin gets soft (especially the carious stuff) with all the water spray and it will peel out very nicely and easily with the spoons at high mag.
2. His pluggers come in smaller sizes and are wonderful for use in resins. Not sticky and the right shapes.
3. Mark has some nice placement instruments including burnishers for the resin and in addition he has some beautiful felts that are so thin.
I havent really got alot of composite instruments over the years and really really like his tools that he designed.
He worked hard on them and they really deserve a look.
Buy a set , try them, you wont be sorry, I know I was astonished and I mean that.
Now for the poster boy, I think you have done more to try and educate users than most Mark and I meant the comment in a caring way.
I have a couple of cool cases I am gonna show later tonight between writing articles for dentistry today and for oral health here in Canada……..sheesh.
Finally, pulpal encounters ( of the worst kind) are something I think that is much more predicatable with magnification. I know that I accidentally hit the pulp far far less now with the scope since I can see the blush etc.
I still dont have the success some do with the laser sterilization but have tried it sometimes and it works sometimes.
Great posts as ususal and I would love to see a laser meeting (no specific laser companies) just lectures on how to improve technique……….what do you think Ron……

Glenn van AsSpectatorThe neatest part was the laser welding Mark………that was something I had never tried and it was fun to see that it does work. Warmed up the tissue and it melded together………..
I know that some will just shake their head. I would too if I hadnt done it.
Amazing.
All the best Mark and good to see you back on the board , we missed you.

Glenn van AsSpectatorDavid: I am so glad that you say that you need 4.5X to see what you are doing. Now you know why I love working at 10X power with the scope with the laser and why I feel naked without it when I go on the road
Try the filters if you can get them inside the loupes as the diode can be very very bad for your eye.
The ebium affects your cornea and your lens and the diode can affect your retina.
Dont risk it , honestly, get the filters for the loupes. Your eyes will thank you!!

Glenn van AsSpectatorWIth the ConBio delight we put the tip inside the sheath and autoclave them in their separate bag.
Be cautious to not roll instruments on them if you place the tips only in the bag.
We place the tip INSIDE the sheath loose and that prevents accidental breakage.
Check out these photos of me polishing the continuum tips taken with the scope today.

PatricioSpectatorBob,
We can talk about a possible laser when we meet. I have installed two Myotronic units at a dental school in Cochabamba, Bolivia to date. The love guest lecturers
In my 12 years of third world dentistry I have extracted one tooth but have done many restorative procedures. I hire one or two Bolivian dentists to take out teeth as needed. They volunteer and I pay them Ū.50 per tooth. I just refuse to take teeth out and work on children as much as possible and others who will benefit from restorative procedures. Over time we have been working to develop a school based fluoride to restorative programs. This year we took care of some wonderful deaf mute children from a special school. What a privilege. I did have to do it the old fashioned way with the high speed handpiece.

Glenn van AsSpectatorHi folks: Patient came in yesterday with this premolar on the lower left.
Rampant decay under the abutment, and note how that can be seen with the scope. Decision made to remove the tooth and the crown on the first molar and prep for a bridge.
Premolar broke off but look how you can see the root tip at 10X power and drill around it with a small diamond and get it out. THe lighting and magnification really helped me get the root tip out
Then I removed the crown on the molar……..margin placed on amalgam in two spots.
Once the amalgam was out , no biologic width on the mesial and so we quickly used the erbium.
3 watts or so without water for the soft tissue and with water for the bone.
Argon laser to coagulate, and then a properly shaped temporary bridge for the temp.
Need to wait a little while to evaluate healing of the socket.
No flap, no referral to the specialist for perio surgery.
Easy.

Glenn van AsSpectatorHere is the last photo of the temp bridge….late for work

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — American Medical Technologies Inc. (ADLI) said its shares will be delisted from the Nasdaq SmallCap Market because the company doesn’t meet the minimum bid price and market value rules.
The notice from the Nasdaq Listing Qualifications Panel also cited the company’s failure to hold an annual meeting in 2002.
In a press release Wednesday, the dentistry technologies maker said it expects to trade on the over-the-counter Bulletin Board under the same symbol Wednesday.
